I recently visited Salzburg in Austria, a city famous for Mozart and the Sound of Music. Please forgive me for saying this but I’m not the biggest fan of either of those things – I’m basically tone deaf, if that let’s me off the hook. What appealed to me most about Salzburg and why I wanted to visit so much was because of it’s central location to little towns further afield.
Around this time last year my friend, Jess, and I decided we needed a social media detox in the mountains. Personally, I didn’t feel too overwhelmed by the presence of Instagram and Facebook in my life (although the hell that is Twitter needed to go), but a week in the mountains sounded exactly like my cup of tea.
On our recent trip to Slovenia, we made sure to visit the pastel town of Piran. It’s a small town with a few things to do and can be covered fully in a short afternoon. Still, it’s worth a visit as Piran is one of Slovenia’s only towns along the 46km coastline, making it a unique place to see. The Venetian houses and pastel-coloured buildings are reason enough for visiting but if you need specifics, here’s my guide on what to see inside this Adriatic gem.
Seven whole days in Slovenia meant we had plenty of time to explore. Ljubljana and Lake Bled were the first places on our radar closely followed by a day in Soca Valley and a trip to Piran. I narrowed down our itinerary to focus on six days in those places which left one day free to explore somewhere else. I noticed the places I’d picked were all very West Slovenia, surely the East of the country has something to offer too?
Everything You Need to Know About the Valley of the Mills
October 1, 2019When I first saw a picture of the Valley of the Mills, I knew I had to add it to the bucket list.
I’m a little bit obsessed with abandoned places. I’m sure my vast amount of blog posts on the subject is testament to that. But the deep Valley of Mills in Sorrento is a perfect example of an abandoned place where nature has taken over. It’s one of the most surreal and beautiful places I’ve ever been to and also one of the most unexpected.
Ultimate Melbourne to Sydney Road Trip (One Week Itinerary)
September 10, 2019The Melbourne to Sydney road trip is a road less travelled by most backpackers. Don’t get me wrong, the road from Brisbane to Cairns is incredible and you should definitely do that one. But there are so many gorgeous sights you’d be missing out on if you decide to fly between Australia’s biggest cities. Here is my ultimate week long guide for visiting what’s between Melbourne and Sydney on the coastal route path.
Back in 2015, I set myself a goal. Before I turned 30, I would like to have visited every country in Europe. Why 30? I don’t know, it felt like a good age. Why Europe? I don’t know, it felt like a good continent. Hey, I don’t question other people’s life goals, alright? I just stick to my own goals with extreme stubbornness.
When I visited Florida back in 2017, I didn’t exactly fall in love with the place. I mean, almost getting abducted by a paedophile and getting stuck on the Seven Mile Bridge for three hours isn’t everybody’s idea of a perfect holiday, is it?
You can’t go to Kiev without seeing one of the several ice cream sundae shaped churches. It’s inevitable because they’re absolutely everywhere. Here’s my list of the must-see churches and how to find them.
Hello! This blog post will be a long one. Let’s call this the final ‘what happened to my year abroad in Australia’ post. It’s going to include everything from what happened at my job, all the preparation I did to insure that I was chill enough to simply go visit a mountain when everything went wrong and why I ended up back home. And why I love the Grampians, obviously.
