Reykjavik in Art

November 29, 2015

Reykjavik is the most northernly capital city on Earth and its clear it strives to be unusual. One of the most memorable things about this city, in my opinion, is the art. The street art and the sculptures, every where you look the city is painted in fantastic colours and designs.

Here are some of my favourite street art pictures from my trip:

You can’t forget about the sculptures. This one is particularly memorable. Entitled ‘The Unknown Bureaucrat’ some people believe that this piece plays tribute to all the anonymous bureaucrats, other people have suggested it could play tribute to people weighed down by the working world. Either way, it’s provocative.DSC_0854

Finally, my favourite piece from my trip, ‘the sun voyager’ sculpture. Perhaps it’s the magnificent backdrop or it could be the metal material which reflects the sunlight, there is something magical about this sculpture.
