Reykjavik, The Colourful Capital

February 1, 2016

One of my favourite things about Scandinavian countries and arctic towns are the colours. Although the houses usually have that famous Nordic interior, the outsides are full of life and colour.

On Christmas day Reykjavik sees half an hour of sunlight and it seems to me that arctic towns tend to break up the endless shades of white, black and grey with specks of colours to brighten up the towns.I fell in love with Reykjavik a million times over and one of the reasons was because of the block-like, colourful houses that look like they’re straight out of a Claymation feature. It’s not just the roofs and bricks, it’s the unusual amount of street art plastered to the walls and roads.
