The Royal Library in Copenhagen is nicknamed the Black Diamond because it resembles a shiny black rock, reflecting the sea. It is one of the biggest, most striking buildings in Copenhagen and definitely worth a visit.
The Black Diamond was designed by Danish architecture, Schmidt Hammer Lassen and was finished in 1999. The interior homes an extensive collection of books, art including the ceiling ornamentation by Danish artist, Per Kikeby. The atrium is one of the most beautiful things in the library. It looks out over the sea to Christianshavn, even though the Black Diamond is located in central Copenhagen.
