Porto is the second largest city in Portugal with plenty of fun things to do and vegan places to eat. Traditional Portuguese food isn’t vegan friendly but many of the vegan eateries have embraced and veganised these foods as well as incorporated other delicious cuisines making Porto an excellent place to find vegan food of many cultures.

Lupin Restaurante VegetarianoLupin is a modern, minimalistic vegetarian restaurant nearby Casa Musica with traditional Portuguese cuisine and a perfect place for having a fancy three course meal for an attractive price. This is a great place to try veganised versions of meaty Portuguese dishes, but the menu changes daily so keep that in mind.Price: €€ (Moderate)

Pop 101Pop 101 is a restaurant/bar tucked inside one of the side streets of Porto that serves vegetarian and gluten free finger foods and tapas from record book menus with a cool atmosphere. Pop 101 is a great place to start or end your night out in Porto, and a good place to eat traditional Portuguese and Spanish tapas.

Black Mamba Burgers and Records   Black Mamba is quite unlike any other vegan eatery in Porto as it claims not to be a restaurant or cafe but a space which sells both records and other music paraphernalia and burgers, chips and vegan desserts. Here they have plenty of unusual vegan burger options ranging from leak and potato to spinach and tofu – you won’t find the standard veggie or bean burgers here.Price: € (Inexpensive)

Em Carne VivaEm Carne Viva is an upscale vegetarian place with plenty of vegan options of traditional Portuguese dishes. The location is in an old, restored house which has a romantic garden, perfect for splashing out for a romantic lunch or dinner, or treating yourself to something fancy if you have extra euros to spare.Price: €€€ (Pricey)

Hand GoIf you’re on the go and fancy something quick, or are craving pizza or a homemade juice, head to Hand Go in the centre of town right by the Clérigos Church. Although this is primarily a takeout place for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, they offer custom vegan pizza slices with vegan cheese and toppings of your choice.Price: €€ (Moderate)
