Ultimate Melbourne to Sydney Road Trip (One Week Itinerary)

September 10, 2019

The Melbourne to Sydney road trip is a road less travelled by most backpackers. Don’t get me wrong, the road from Brisbane to Cairns is incredible and you should definitely do that one. But there are so many gorgeous sights you’d be missing out on if you decide to fly between Australia’s biggest cities. Here is my ultimate week long guide for visiting what’s between Melbourne and Sydney on the coastal route path.

Most Instagrammable (Vegan) Brunch Spots in Bondi

December 20, 2018

It was in Sydney, more specifically Bondi, where I discovered I have a bit of a brunch problem. During my time there, I woke up early every day to devour different brunches and I don’t regret a thing. It was my intention to get fat in Australia, I’ll have you know.

Actually, I scrimped and saved all my money earlier in the trip, eating cheaply so that I could throw the money I saved at Sydney’s cafes. It was all a part of my master plan to live my best life. Once again, I don’t regret a thing.

But let’s not waste any more time. Let me tell you about my favourite brunch spots near Bondi Beach. Continue Reading…

Attempting to Find Happiness in Byron Bay

October 23, 2018

Byron Bay has to be one of the strangest places I’ve ever been to and I can’t seem to make my mind up about it.

Before I went, I researched things to do on countless travel blogs, all of them describing Byron Bay as ‘paradise on Earth’ insisting I’d need a year there rather than a short three days. Basically, I had high expectations and I left a little disappointed. Continue Reading…

Nelsons Bay

October 9, 2018

Due to the fact that I had an extra two days in Wollongong and was expecting to want to leave Sydney the second I stepped foot in it (but ended up loving it and spent an extra two days there), I was falling increasingly behind on my itinerary. With only three weeks left to drive 1,500 miles, I needed to sacrifice a couple of places on my to-do list. Continue Reading…

Sydney in Pictures

October 4, 2018

I had extremely low expectations for Sydney due to the fact that the majority of my Aussie friends are from Melbourne. “Sydney’s the worst!” they’d say whenever I told someone I’d be going there. In fact, they made Sydney sound so bad I considered skipping it on my road trip to Cairns, sticking exclusively to smaller beach towns like Jervis Bay and Port Macquarie. Continue Reading…

In Love with Wollongong

September 28, 2018

I’m currently sat in a very instagrammable café in Wollongong, NSW, the seventh stop on what I’m now referring to as my ‘Eat Pray Love road trip’ up the East Coast of Australia. Why the Liz Gilbert reference? Because I’m having a me holiday to heal myself after my recent breakdown, alright? You don’t want me to get into it, trust me, but if you know me in real life you know I haven’t exactly been shy about all my problems as of late and I really need a time to start enjoying life and travelling again. That’s what this trip is.

So far I’ve been to Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island, Wilsons Promontory, Jervis Bay and Morton National Park. My plan was to only stay in Wollongong for two days but here I am, on my fourth day in Wollongong and I don’t want to leave. Continue Reading…

Hiking to the Base of Belmore Falls

September 27, 2018

You must know by now that I have an affinity for breaking rules. In general, I’m a good girl. I don’t do drugs, I rarely drink, I feel like I have a pretty good moral compass when it comes to supporting companies and practices that don’t oblige with my ethical code. And yet when I see a ‘danger, do not cross beyond this point’ sign… Continue Reading…

Jervis Bay

September 26, 2018

I’ve been finding it difficult to write about my short time in Jervis Bay. It was sandwiched between Wilsons Promontory and Morton National Park, two places full of beautiful nature, trees, waterfalls, mountains and glorious beaches. But Jervis Bay certainly had the most glorious beaches so far on my journey. It is, after all, home to the beach that has been awarded the Guinness world record for having the ‘whitest sand’, Hyams beach. Continue Reading…
