A Vegan’s Guide to Eating Out in Vilnius

April 14, 2017

Vilnius is the kind of place that will make a vegan scream out “YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSS!! This is how you do vegan food! Take note, other cities, Valletta, I’m looking at you.” I’m not kidding, guys, Vilnius knows how to do vegan food and it knows how to do it well.

There’s something so right about Eastern Europe and veganism. Forget all those rumours about goose blood soup and pickled beetroot being the only vegetables – I blame the book ‘Everything is Illuminated’. Eastern Europe isn’t anything like that, especially not the Baltic States. They are up-to-date with food trends and always showing off with fresh, organic, vegan meals in hip, modern locations. Oh, and I didn’t even mention the best part yet. Lithuania is cheap. Where else could you buy home made vegan cakes for 23¢ or a five course fine dining experience for €30? Nowhere but Vilnius. Enough rambling and let me tell you about my favourite places in this fabulous city. Continue Reading…

A Vegan’s Guide to Eating Out in Valletta

March 13, 2017

I think I’ve found the worst capital city in Europe to be a vegan in. Yeah, okay, I’ve never been to Chisinau so I don’t know for sure, but I swear Valletta must be in the top 10. I mean, if Happycow lists ‘Marks and Spencers’ as one of the options you know you’re in trouble.

Because Malta is a small island on the Mediterranean, they are understandably behind on the whole vegan food trend. Think that undersized, undercooked trend that was very fashionable a few years ago. If you’re still on the raw vegan bandwagon, you’re one of the lucky ones and shouldn’t find Malta’s capital too difficult to navigate food-wise (if you can get over the unsafe drinking water situation that is). As for the rest of us, it can be difficult to find substantial meals in the meat eaters Mediterranean. Luckily, I’ve got you covered with a handy guide. Continue Reading…

Best Veggie Burgers in Berlin

December 19, 2016

I know, I know, the hamburger is more of a Hamburg thing but I didn’t visit Hamburg, I went to Berlin and I’m about to tell you something so true it might change your life forever. Berlin is the city where vegan dreams come true. It has an entirely vegan supermarket chain, you won’t be able to walk down a road in Kreuzberg without encountering at least one vegan restaurant, there’s even an all-vegan sex shop but there is nothing as heavenly as a good ol’ veggie burger from the vegetarian capital of the world. A Vegan’s Guide to Eating Out in Rome

July 4, 2016

The Italian Capital is amazing for vegan food. You can find it at pretty much at any Italian restaurant if you make sure the pasta doesn’t have eggs (traditional Italian pasta doesn’t, but make sure anyway) and the pizza has no cheese or meat. In fact, the majority of my holiday was spent at these Italian restaurants, so I’m sorry if this list is a little smaller than usual. Continue Reading…
